I discovered Freehold with a Brooklyn scenester buddy of mine while most of the fake-hotel-concept was still under construction. My friend knew one of the owners so we had a short tour of the place and I’ve been coming back there for Stumptown coffee and wifi anytime I need a good workspace in the ‘burg. Now they have a full food and drink menu that will take you from breakfast all the way into the rowdy tabletop mischief of a Brooklyn night.

One of the best local markets, its known for showing off very cool stuff by local geniuses. With their website and pop-up sale, you can check out the goods from anywhere and order jewelry, vintage, art, accessories and even personality.
Bringing the worlds of craft beer and artisanal eats together, Berg’n is essential Brooklyn. Located in Crown Heights, the enormously sleek space is wicked for low-key meet ups, especially for groups. From the geniuses behind Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg, sometimes there’s even a DJ keeping it hopping.

There’s lots to see and do this weekend in Bushwick, so plan a little but aim to get lost between old warehouse spaces and artist studios from East Williamsburg to the far reaches of Hipster-dom.

High tea is making a big comeback in a city with some serious coffee competition. That said, the super sleek Hester Street Cafe at the New Museum brings old and new worlds head-to-head, serving loose-leaf McNulty‘s local brand of tea in glass pots with three sandwiches and artsy pastries by Cafe Grumpy, $35 for two. And for once at the New Museum, it’s all pretty straight forward.
For all those smooth-as-silk wannabe furballs out there, now there’s a cosmetic, surgical option for the hipsters who feel like they are missing out on the look. For a paltry $7000, facial plastic surgeons can add hair wherever it’s missing and give Williamsburg, Park Slope and Bushwick a run for their money.
